Real-time student engagement: Leveraging tablets for faculty and future faculty development
Date: May 29, 2015
Time: 2:00 PM ET
Presenters: Steve Gilbert, Beth Dailey, TLT Group and folks from California Institute of Technology, Center for Teaching, Learning, and Outreach (CTLO):
  • Cassandra Horii, Director
  • Julius Su, Program Manager, Community Science Academy
  • James Maloney, Program Manager, Community Science Academy
  • Holly Ferguson, Program Manager

In this FridayLive! session, find out about a new tablet-based, collaborative app and how it is being used to enhance active student learning and support faculty and teaching assistants in adopting new teaching strategies. You’ll have an opportunity to examine and discuss data from biology, mathematics, and chemistry courses at both a research university and a community college--a unique partnership spanning a diversity of teaching contexts and student interests. Analysis of modes and types of student participation, student learning outcomes and self-reported experience, and patterns of student engagement in time during class, reveal new insights into how teaching and learning work.

If you would like to experiment with the Skies app during the session, you are invited to download it to your ISO device.  This link will provide directions on how to do so.
